Let’s get Glam
10:00Earlier this month it was National Glamour Day. If you don’t live in Belgium or in the Netherlands you might wonder what I am talking about. Let me tell you.
Glamour is a fashion magazine that is published in several countries all over the world, such as the U.K., Russia, the US…
The local edition from the Netherlands gets published once a month and it also gets released in Belgium. I have to admit I don’t buy it every month though, just when there is something interesting in it.
Once a year this magazine organises a “National Glamour Day”. On this day you get a 20% discount on your shopping list at participating stores. Not every store participates, but there is a good selection of brands that do. Glamour posts a list on their website with the participating stores, plus you can search on your location to see which ones are near to you. There were also stores in Belgium that were participating.
Keep in mind that you need to bring your Glamour magazine in order to get your discount. Some stores don’t really ask for it, but most of them do. We have seen people cueing in front of us who had to pay full price because they didn’t have the magazine. Also, the ones at the checkouts won’t ask you whether you have it, you really need to show them your copy.
My boyfriend did feel a bit discriminated at one point. In C&A they would only apply the discount on the female collection. So not fair! In the end he didn’t buy anything there. Over lunch we started wondering whether they would apply the discount on male clothes if I would have gone up to pay for them. However since they were adding to code on for each item, we doubted it would work and we couldn’t be bothered to go back.
We had a nice day out, and came home with a lot of shopping bags. I can’t wait for next year’s National Glamour day.
