Online Dating Series: Part 3 Choose your public
11:00
Now that you have thought about who you are and what you want, it's time to determine your public. There are countless dating sites and it might be difficult to make a decision.
Are you willing to pay or not? If you are not, you can already eliminate those sites from your list who ask for a fee.
One advantage that I see to the free dating websites is that the public will be broader. More people will be on there. However this is also a disadvantage, simply ANYONE can be on there. And not everyone will have the same motive to be on there.
I found that one night stand were a recurring theme on there. Since conversations were somewhat moderated, guys I spoke to were quite fast in asking for a phone number. one minute you would be talking about the weather and the next they would ask you what your wildest fantasy was and whether you would like to make it reality. And you're just sitting there wondering how the conversation got there.
Going for a paid site will obviously cost you. Usually they offer different formulas (1 month - 3 months - 1 year), in which the longer the formula, the less it will cost you. A year formula will cost you about 200 Euros.
If you are going for a site that will charge you, I suggest trying to find reviews or experiences online. If you know friends that have tried internet dating, ask them how they experience the site they were using.
Keep in mind that these sites will all promise you a success story. They will offer you that you will receive more "useful" profile views than on other sites.
Most of these sites will have some sort of "refund" guaranty. They promise you a determined number of contacts. If they cannot deliver, they will extend the formula or might refund your money. However you will need to comply with some conditions, such as you need to have been actively searching and messaging on their site and have a picture uploaded. Check the site you are enrolling to, to check these conditions. Out of personal experience I do believe it will be very unlikly that they will actually refund your money. My account got cancelled after I had deleted some information because I was chatting seriously with a guy and I didn't want to give other guys false hope. After mailing back and forth with the site in question they were only willing to reactivate my profile.
In my experience on a paying dating site the public is different. I found that the guys I met on there were more serious about getting into a relationship than on free sites.
However I have also heard stories from friends who found that they were offered contacts that were irrelevant to them or contacts that have been inactive for some time.
Other stories I have heard involved getting response from a contact, and all of a sudden this contact would disappear. The only explanation the site would give was that the contact would have left the site or blocked the person, and due to provacy reasons they could not give more information. When logging into the site on another person's account the contact would still be on the site.

No site whether you pay for them or not can guarantee you find love, but they could be your leap of faith to find your true love.
