I was really excited about going to see this, a few years ago I went to see Skyfall with my dad and loved the film. Since my dad passed away I promised I would go to see the film for my dad. I'm not going to give away any story lines here, so don't worry if you want to know about the film I'm not going to tell you everything so you can go and see it.
Bond's a changed man since Skyfall maybe the loss of M (Judy Dench)and the arrival of the new M (Ralph Finnes) has made Bond (Daniel Craig) a better man. The film opens in Mexico at the Dead are alive festival, everyone is dressed as skeletons, Bond is among the crowd watching his target pass him and he goes to a room with a women, before climbing out the window and running along rooftops to blow up an apartment block, a good fight in a helicopter then ensues and there you are ready for the next two hours, a definite explosive start.
Bond returns to London with a slap on the wrists for causing chaos in Mexico without permission to be there, it is here we learn that MI6 is going to be linked with MI5 and that the double 0 department is looking to be dropped because it’s old fashioned. We meet Mr MI5 at the same time as Bond does, he introduces himself and Bond responds with 'So your C?' C replies with 'You can call me Max' to which Bond comes over all smug and charming and says 'No I'll call you C.'
As the film goes on we find that Bond is on a mission to find a resolution to a cryptic message from M (Dench) sent him via video in the chance of her death, he is sent on a trail to uncover a sinister organization 'Spectre'. The twists and turns are great in this film and dare I say one of the best Bond films I have ever seen. I have seen a good fair few growing up as my dad was obsessed with them! There are some fantastic lines in this film, my favorite was between M (Ralph Finnes) and C (Andrew Scott). M says to C 'Now I know what C stands for.' insert long pause while the audience in theatre's across the country chuckles thinking of all C words but the one M finally says is 'Careless'.
There are lots of fight scenes, explosions, falling long distances from helicopters, stair cases etc and Bond gets a right beating! It’s a great adventure film and truly enjoyable, only downside was the dire theme tune. Whatever Sam Smith's Writing on the wall had to do with Spectre is beyond me, there was no link at all. Much preferred Adele's Skyfall for the last film.
The film has a fantastic cast and brilliant writing from John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Bond has now stepped away from the Ian Fleming classic novels which is a good thing, it’s modern and accessible, the special effects are amazing and create great effect. I have heard this is going into the 4DX Imax cinema screens which will give audiences seat vibrations along with the action, smells, water and air shooting out into your face. This film would be amazing in 4DX plenty in it to make you feel as though you are there doing all the stunts with Bond.
This film has already taken 6.3 million on its first day of opening on Monday 26th October and has had the biggest Tuesday audiences for many years, I think that speaks for the film. Check out this film it’s brilliant!
